The Santa Fe Institute was originally established as a liturgical workshop spearheaded by Fr. Blase Schauer, O.P., in the late 1960s. After his death, and under the direction of Fr. Michael Carey, O.P., and Fr. Michael Morris, O.P., the Institute became a research center for scholars interested in Religion and the Arts. Today the Santa Fe Institute’s library contains over 12,000 volumes dedicated to the study of art and religion, a vast selection of religious and sacred art, as well as one of the largest collections of biblical movie posters worldwide.
