The Order of Preachers
Who May Enter?
The characteristics of a Dominican
vocation are a deep faith in Christ and His Gospel; a profound love of the sacraments,
especially of the Eucharist and its common daily celebration; appreciation for common life
and prayer with its round of regular observance, attraction to study and lively zeal for
the apostolate.
All candidates
to the Western Dominican Province must be
between twenty and forty years old, male, and candidates to the priesthood must have completed a
bachelor's degree. The entry date each year is usually in mid-August. The
province admissions board reviews applications for the following Fall in April and in
June. If a convert, one must be a Catholic for at least three years before
applying.
