Fr. Anselm Tilman
Ramelow, OP
Fr. Anselm is from Germany. After his conversion to the Catholic Church he learned
about the Dominicans through one of the Western Dominican Province friars ministering in
Germany. One thing led to another, and this friar invited him to come to the United
States and investigate religious life in the Province. He entered the novitiate
taking the religious name of "Anselm." In past times, he sang in the
cathedral choir of Munich. He is also an organists and pianist.
He finished his Ph.D. in philosophy in 1995 after an M.A. in History.
Completing his pastoral residency in Los Angeles, California (2001), he returned to
his theological studies. During his last several years of theological studies, he
taught philosophy at both the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology, and the
University of San Francisco.
His first assignment is at Holy Rosary Parish in Antioch,
California. He will spend one year in ministry there, before resuming his ministry
as a professor of philosophy.
