Br. Robert King, OP
I entered the Dominican Order in 1998, and over the eight years of my
formation I discerned that God was calling me, not to the priesthood, but to
be a "Co-operator Brother," which is a permanent brother in solemn vows. I
have followed this vocation because, while a priest's ministry is focused on
the Catholic community gathered together, my own calling is to reach out
beyond those who come to sit in the pews and to bring the gospel to people
who would not easily hear it, who maybe don't even know they are looking for
it.
My main interests are in stories -- whether told through
books or films or face-to-face -- and in supporting lay people in their
secular apostolates. I've worked frequently with the Catherine of Siena
Institute, and write a blog on topics of the arts and secular vocations (adsaeculum.blogspot.com).
I'm currently stationed at St. Catherine of Siena Newman
Center in Salt Lake City, helping with our campus ministry to the University
of Utah and other local colleges.
