Br. Simon Thomas Dwyer, OP
Br. Simon was blessed with a religious vocation at the age of 52. He was born in
Manchester, England in 1826 and received the habit in 1878. He worked as a tailor
for thirty years in the Dominican Order, living at St. Dominic's in Benicia,
California. In his obituary it is written: "His kindness of heart, genial
nature and strong faith won the love of all the priests and brothers of the priory and a
warm place in the hearts of many outsiders, who had the pleasure of his
acquaintance." He died at the age of 82 in 1908.
