Brother Allen Moran
I was born and raised in central Illinois the second of eight children. Before joining the
Dominicans, I spent many years at the University of Illinois eventually finishing my PhD
in economics. After this, I worked as an economist covering Latin America for an
investment bank in New York City for a year and a half. A job I had at one point
really wanted, but later left for what I believe is a better life.
I had tried to live a dream I created instead of following what I believed
was Gods calling me to the priesthood. Community life, an emphasis of bringing
the Word of God to one and all through preaching, and a commitment to the Dominican slogan
Veritas (Truth) has made Dominican life a source of great joy for me.
Ultimately, I would like to be in a parish, teach, do missionary work, and/or
develop economic theory based on a Christian understanding of who man truly is.
Br. Allen is a seminarian of the Eastern Province of
the United States and is undergoing his first year of philosophical studies with the
Western Province. 9-15-01 |
