Br. Darren is member of the Province of St. Joseph (Eastern United
States), and is at St. Albert's to begin his
philosophical studies. After growing up in northeastern Indiana, he pursued a degree in
Theoretical Physics. While doing graduate work at MIT, he felt a call to the priesthood
and eventually discerned a vocation to the Dominican Order. After his Master's Thesis
(Modeling the Development of Visual Cortex in Mammals), he began his novitiate in the fall
of 1997. Br. Darren made Simple Profession on the Feast of the Assumption of the
Blessed Virgin Mary, this past August before traveling the Oakland to stay with the
community at St. Albert's. Although he is just beginning his studies in philosophy, he
hopes eventually to specialize in the study of Liturgy and Sacred Music. |
