The Dominicans Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus

Br. Claudius Martin Blak, OP

Br. Claudius lived a simple life, serving the many needs of a growing house of formation.  He was born in 1880.  After forty-eight years in the world, he made the decision to serve the Dominicans as a humble tertiary.  Tertiaries were cooperator brothers, who did not take vows.  He stayed in Benicia for formation, but moved in 1934 to the one year old House of Studies in Oakland.  He was an excellent gardener for the house.  He served them diligently for eight years, and in 1942 died at the age of sixty-two.
